The name “Seconds” of this ambient-style piece refers to musical major seconds, not units of time. Notes played on one Haken Continuum synthesizer are doubled at an interval of a major second.

Part I uses a patch that reacts mainly to the derivative of finger movements in two dimensions. This means that it greatly accentuates small movements of fingers while playing. Part II, in turn, continues the major second doubling with a different patch that is also used in “position 1” in Proportiones absconditae (the first track of this album), and likewise reacts to small movements, but not as extremely as the one used in part I.
